அப்பொழுது மக்கள் அசீரியா ராஜாவை நோக்கி: நீர் இங்கேயிருந்து அனுப்பி, சமாரியாவின் பட்டணங்களிலே குடியேறச்செய்த மக்கள் அந்த தேசத்து தேவனுடைய காரியத்தை அறியாததால், அவர் அவர்களுக்குள்ளே சிங்கங்களை அனுப்பினார்; அந்த தேசத்து தேவனுடைய காரியத்தை அவர்கள் அறியாததால், அவைகள் அவர்களைக் கொன்றுபோடுகிறது என்று சொன்னார்கள்.

அப்பொழுது, “நீர் நாடுகடத்தி சமாரியா பட்டணங்களில் குடியேற்றிய மக்களுக்கு, இந்த நாட்டின் தெய்வத்தை எப்படி வழிபடவேண்டுமென்று தெரியவில்லை. இந்த நாட்டு தெய்வத்திற்கு என்ன செய்யவேண்டும் என்று அறியாதபடியால் அவர் சிங்கங்களை அவர்கள் மத்தியில் அனுப்பியிருக்கிறார். அவை அவர்களைக் கொல்கின்றன” என்று அசீரிய அரசனுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.
