பென்யமீன் சேனை சுமார் 30 இஸ்ரவேல் படைவீரர்களைக் கொன்றிருந்தது. எனவே பென்யமீன் ஆட்கள், “முன்பு போலவே, நாங்கள் வெல்கிறோம்” என்றனர். அப்போது நகரிலிருந்து புகையெழுந்தது. பென்யமீன் ஜனங்கள் திரும்பி, புகையைப் பார்த்தனர். நகரம் முழுவதும் எரிய ஆரம்பித்தது. அப்போது இஸ்ரவேல் சேனையினர் ஓடுவதை நிறுத்தினார்கள். இதைக் கண்ட பென்யமீன் மனிதர்கள் பயந்தனர். அப்பொழுது தமக்கு நேர்ந்த கொடிய நிலையை அறிந்தனர்.

And when the men of Israel retired in the battle, Benjamin began to smite [and] kill of the men of Israel about thirty persons: for they said, Surely they are smitten down before us, as [in] the first battle.
