1. 4கர்த்தர் கிதியோனை நோக்கி: ஜனங்கள் இன்னும் அதிகம், அவர்களைத் தண்ணீரண்டைக்கு இறங்கிப்போகப்பண்ணு; அங்கே அவர்களைப் பரிட்சித்துக்காட்டுவேன்; உன்னோடேகூட வரலாம் என்று நான் யாரைக் குறிக்கிறேனோ, அவன் உன்னோடேகூட வரக்கடவன்; உன்னோடேகூட வரலாகாது என்று நான் யாரைக் குறிக்கிறேனோ, அவன் உன்னோடேகூடவராதிருக்கக்கடவன் என்றார்.

3. 6தங்கள் கையால் அள்ளி, தங்கள் வாய்க்கெடுத்து, நக்கிக்கொண்டவர்களின் லக்கம் முந்நூறுபேர்; மற்ற ஜனங்களெல்லாம் தண்ணீர் குடிக்கிறதற்கு முழங்கால் ஊன்றிக் குனிந்தார்கள்.
4. 7அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் கிதியோனை நோக்கி: நக்கிக்குடித்த அந்த முந்நூறு பேராலே நான் உங்களை இரட்சித்து, மீதியானியரை உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பேன், மற்ற ஜனங்களெல்லாரும் தங்கள் தங்கள் இடத்திற்குப் போகக்கடவர்கள் என்றார்.
5. 8அப்பொழுது ஜனங்கள் தங்கள் கையில் தின்பண்டங்களையும் எக்காளங்களையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டார்கள்; மற்ற இஸ்ரவேலரெல்லாரையும் தங்கள்தங்கள் கூடாரங்களுக்கு அனுப்பிவிட்டு, அந்த முந்நூறு பேரைமாத்திரம் வைத்துக்கொண்டான்; மீதியானியரின் சேனை அவனுக்குத் தாழ்விடமான பள்ளத்தாக்கில் இருந்தது.
