1. 28तब अहीमास ने पुकारके राजा से कहा, कल्याण। फिर उस ने भूमि पर मुंह के बल गिर राजा को दणडवत् करके कहा, तेरा परमेश्वर यहोवा धन्य है, जिस ने मेरे प्रभु राजा के विरूद्ध हाथ उठानेवाले मनुष्यों को तेरे वश में कर दिया है!
2. 29राजा ने पूछा, क्या उस जवान अबशालोम का कल्याण है? अहीमास ने कहा, जब योआब ने राजा के कर्मचारी को और तेरे दास को भेज दिया, तब मुझे बड़ी भीड़ देख पड़ी, परन्तु मालूम न हुआ कि क्या हुआ था।
3. 30राजा ने कहा; हटकर यहीं खड़ा रह। और वह हटकर खड़ा रहा।
4. 31तब कूशी भी आ गया; और कूशी कहने लगा, मेरे प्रभु राजा के लिये समाचार है। यहोवा ने आज न्याय करके तुझे उन सभों के हाथ से बचाया है जो तेरे विरूद्ध उठे थे।
5. 32राजा ने कूशी से पूछा, क्या वह जवान अर्थात् अबशालोम कल्याण से है? कूशी ने कहा, मेरे प्रभु राजा के शत्रु, और जितने तेरी हानि के लिये उठे हैं, उनकी दशा उस जवान की सी हो।
