सातवें महीने के पहिले दिन से वे यहोवा को होमबलि चढ़ाने लगे। परन्तु यहोवा के मन्दिर की नेव तब तक न डाली गई थी।

8उनके परमेश्वर के भवन में, जो यरूशलेम में है, अपने के दूसरे वर्ष के दूसरे महीने में, शालतीएल के पुत्रा जरूब्बाबेल ने और योसादाक के पुत्रा येशू ने और उनके और भाइयों ने जो याजक और लेवीय थे, और जितने बन्धुआई से यरूशलेम में आए थे उन्हों ने भी काम को आरम्भ किया, और बीस वर्ष अथवा उससे अधिक अवस्था के लेवियों को यहोवा के भवन का काम चलाने के लिये नियुक्त किया।
