ಆದರೆ ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನ ಮಗನಾದ ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾ ಮನು ಯೆಹೂದದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಳುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದನು. ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾ ಮನು ಆಳಲು ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದಾಗ ನಾಲ್ವತ್ತೊಂದು ವರುಷ ದವನಾಗಿದ್ದು ಕರ್ತನು ತನ್ನ ನಾಮವನ್ನು ಇಡಲು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಸಕಲ ಗೋತ್ರಗಳೊಳಗಿಂದ ಆದು ಕೊಂಡ ಪಟ್ಟಣವಾದ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹದಿನೇಳು ವರುಷ ಆಳಿದನು. ಅವನ ತಾಯಿ ಅಮ್ಮೋನ್ಯಳಾದ ನಯಮಾಳೆಂಬ ಹೆಸರುಳ್ಳವಳಾಗಿದ್ದಳು.

Rehoboam [was] forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD did choose out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother’s name [was] Naamah an Ammonitess.

22ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೂದದವರು ಕರ್ತನ ಸಮ್ಮುಖದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಟ್ಟತನ ಮಾಡಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಪಿತೃಗಳು ಮಾಡಿದ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಪಾಪಗಳಿ ಗಿಂತ ತಾವು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಪಾಪಮಾಡಿ ಆತನಿಗೆ ರೋಷ ವನ್ನೆಬ್ಬಿಸಿದರು.
23ಅವರು ಎತ್ತರವಾದ ಪ್ರತಿ ಗುಡ್ಡದ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಹಸುರಾದ ಪ್ರತಿ ಗಿಡದ ಕೆಳಗೂ ತೋಪು ಗಳನ್ನು ವಿಗ್ರಹಗಳನ್ನು ಉನ್ನತ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳನ್ನು ತಮಗಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಪುರುಷ ಸಂಗಮರಿದ್ದರು.
