2. 4ಯಾಜಕನು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರ ವಾಗಿ--ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯ ಹೊರತಾಗಿ ನನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಳಕೆಯಾದ ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ಒಂದಾದರೂ ಇಲ್ಲ; ಯೌವನ ಸ್ಥರು ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಸೇರದಿದ್ದರೆ ಅದು ಆಗಲಿ ಅಂದನು.
3. 5ದಾವೀದನು ಯಾಜಕನಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರ ವಾಗಿ--ನಾನು ಹೊರಡುವದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮುಂಚೆ ನಿನ್ನೆಯೂ ಮೊನ್ನೆಯೂ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರು ನಮಗೆ ದೂರವಾ ಗಿದ್ದರು. ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರ ಪಾತ್ರೆಗಳು ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧವಾಗಿವೆ; ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ಪಾತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡಲ್ಪಟ್ಟದ್ದಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ಅದು ಒಂದು ವಿಧವಾಗಿ ಬಳಕೆಯಾಗಿದೆ ಅಂದನು.
4. 6ಆಗ ಕರ್ತನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಿಂದ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಸಮ್ಮುಖದ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳ ಹೊರತು ಬೇರೆ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲದ್ದರಿಂದ ಯಾಜಕನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟನು. ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ದಿವಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಬಿಸಿರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳು ಇಡಲ್ಪಡುವವು.
5. 7ಆದರೆ ಸೌಲನ ಸೇವಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಎದೋಮ್ಯನಾದ ದೋಯೇಗ ನೆಂಬ ಹೆಸರುಳ್ಳ ಒಬ್ಬನು ಆ ದಿವಸ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ತನ ಮುಂದೆ ತಡೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದನು. ಅವನು ಸೌಲನ ಹಿಂಡು ಕಾಯುವವರಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
