ಕಲ್ಪನಾ ಕಥೆ ಗಳಿಗೂ ಕೊನೆಯಿಲ್ಲದ ವಂಶಾವಳಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯ ಕೊಡಬಾರದೆಂತಲೂ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಬೇಕೆಂಬದಾಗಿ ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ಖಂಡಿತವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಈಗಲೂ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಅಂಥ ಕಥೆಗಳೂ ವಂಶಾವಳಿಗಳೂ ವಿವಾದಕ್ಕೆ ಆಸ್ಪದವಾಗಿವೆಯೇ ಹೊರತು ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಯಿಂದುಂಟಾಗುವ ದೈವಭಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ವೃದ್ಧಿಮಾಡುವ

2ನಂಬಿಕೆಯ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಸ್ವಂತಮಗನಾಗಿರುವ ತಿಮೊಥೆಯನಿಗೆ ನಮ್ಮ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ದೇವರಿಂದಲೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಕರ್ತನಾದ ಯೇಸು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನಿಂದಲೂ ನಿನಗೆ ಕೃಪೆಯೂ ಕರುಣೆಯೂ ಶಾಂತಿಯೂ ಆಗಲಿ.
3ನಾನು ಮಕೆದೋನ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದಾಗ ನೀನು ಎಫೆಸ ದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದುಕೊಂಡು ಅವರು ಬೇರೆ ಯಾವ ಬೋಧನೆ ಯನ್ನು ಉಪದೇಶಿಸಬಾರದೆಂತಲೂ

5ಶುದ್ಧ ಹೃದಯದಿಂದಲೂ ಒಳ್ಳೇಮನಸ್ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಯಿಂದಲೂ ನಿಷ್ಕಪಟವಾದ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯಿಂದಲೂ ಉಂಟಾಗುವ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯೇ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯ ಅಂತ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ.
6ಕೆಲವರು ಈ ಗುರಿ ತಪ್ಪಿ ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾದ ವಿಚಾರ ಗಳಿಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ;
