ಅವನು ಆಳಲು ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದಾಗ ಹದಿನಾರು ವರುಷದವ ನಾಗಿದ್ದು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಐವತ್ತೆರಡು ವರುಷ ಆಳಿದನು. ಅವನ ತಾಯಿಯ ಹೆಸರು ಯೆಕೊಲ್ಯಳು; ಅವಳು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನವಳು.

3ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಅಮಚ್ಯನು ಮಾಡಿದ ಎಲ್ಲಾದರ ಹಾಗೆ ಕರ್ತನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದನು.
4ಆದರೆ ಉನ್ನತ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳು ಕೆಡವಲ್ಪಡಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಜನರು ಇನ್ನೂ ಉನ್ನತ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಲಿಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿ ಧೂಪವನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
