1. 1ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಅರಸನಾಗಿರುವ ಏಲನ ಮಗನಾದ ಹೋಶೇಯನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ಮೂರನೇ ವರುಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನಾಗಿರುವ ಆಹಾಜನ ಮಗನಾದ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನು ಆಳಲು ಆರಂಭಿ ಸಿದನು.
2. 2ಅವನು ಆಳಲು ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದಾಗ ಇಪ್ಪ ತ್ತೈದು ವರುಷದವನಾಗಿದ್ದು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಪ್ಪ ತ್ತೊಂಭತ್ತು ವರುಷ ಆಳಿದನು. ಅವನ ತಾಯಿಯ ಹೆಸರು ಅಬಿಯು; ಅವಳು ಜೆಕರ್ಯನ ಮಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದಳು.
3. 3ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ದಾವೀದನು ಮಾಡಿದ ಹಾಗೆ ಕರ್ತನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಗೆ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದನು.
4. 4ಅವನು ಉನ್ನತ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಿ, ವಿಗ್ರಹ ಗಳನ್ನು ಒಡೆದುಬಿಟ್ಟು, ತೋಪುಗಳನ್ನು ಕಡಿದುಹಾಕಿ, ಮೋಶೆಯು ಮಾಡಿದ ತಾಮ್ರದ ಸರ್ಪವನ್ನು ಚೂರುಚೂರು ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಆ ದಿವಸಗಳ ವರೆಗೂ ಇಸ್ರಾ ಯೇಲಿನ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಧೂಪಸುಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅದನ್ನು ತಾಮ್ರದ ತುಂಡು ಎಂದು ಅವನು ಕರೆದನು.
