ಅವನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಿಂದ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಳ್ಳಲು ಬಂದಾಗ ಅರಸನು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ಮೆಫೀಬೋಶೆತನೇ, ನೀನು ಯಾಕೆ ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಬಾರದೆಹೋದಿ ಅಂದನು.

24ಸೌಲನ ಮಗನಾದ ಮೆಫೀಬೋಶೆತನು ಅರಸ ನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಳ್ಳಲು ಬಂದನು. ಅರಸನು ಹೋದಂದಿನಿಂದ ಅವನು ಮರಳಿ ಸಮಾಧಾನವಾಗಿ ಬರುವ ವರೆಗೂ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಪಾದಗಳನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿ ಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ, ತನ್ನ ಗಡ್ಡವನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ; ತನ್ನ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಒಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ.
25ಅವನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಿಂದ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಳ್ಳಲು ಬಂದಾಗ ಅರಸನು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ಮೆಫೀಬೋಶೆತನೇ, ನೀನು ಯಾಕೆ ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಬಾರದೆಹೋದಿ ಅಂದನು.
26ಅದಕ್ಕವನು--ಅರಸನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನೇ, ನನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಮೋಸ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನು ಕುಂಟನಾಗಿರುವದರಿಂದ ಒಂದು ಕತ್ತೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ತಡಿಯನ್ನು ಹಾಕು ಅದರ ಮೇಲೇರಿ ಅರಸನ ಸಂಗಡ ಹೋಗುವೆನೆಂದು ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ನಾನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದೆನು.
27ಅವನು ಅರಸನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಿಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನ ಮೇಲೆ ಚಾಡಿಯನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಆದರೆ ಅರಸನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನು ದೇವದೂತನ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಇದ್ದಾನೆ.
