ಈ ನಾಲ್ವತ್ತು ವರುಷ ನಿನ್ನ ಮೇಲಿರುವ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳು ಹಳೆಯದಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಕಾಲುಗಳು ಬಾತುಹೋಗಲಿಲ್ಲ.

2ನೀನು ತಗ್ಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವೂ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವದನ್ನು ಅಂದರೆ ನೀನು ಆತನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡುವಿಯೋ ಇಲ್ಲವೋ ಎಂದು ತಿಳುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ದಕ್ಕೂ ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಈ ನಾಲ್ವತ್ತು ವರುಷ ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡಿಸಿದ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು.
3ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕುಂದಿಸಿ ಹಸಿ ಯುವಂತೆ ಆತನು ಮಾಡಿದನು. ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ಮಾತ್ರದಿಂದ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಬದುಕುವದಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದೂ ಕರ್ತನ ಬಾಯಿ ಯೊಳಗಿಂದ ಹೊರಡುವ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಮಾತಿ ನಿಂದಲೂ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಬದುಕುತ್ತಾನೆಂದು ನಿನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸುವ ಹಾಗೆ ನೀನು ತಿಳಿಯದಂಥ ಮತ್ತು ನಿನ್ನ ಪಿತೃಗಳು ತಿಳಿಯದಂಥ ಮನ್ನವನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ಉಣ್ಣಲು ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
4ಈ ನಾಲ್ವತ್ತು ವರುಷ ನಿನ್ನ ಮೇಲಿರುವ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳು ಹಳೆಯದಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಕಾಲುಗಳು ಬಾತುಹೋಗಲಿಲ್ಲ.
5ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಒಬ್ಬನು ತನ್ನ ಮಗ ನನ್ನು ಶಿಕ್ಷಿಸುವ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಶಿಕ್ಷಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆಂದು ನಿನ್ನ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತಿಳು ಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು.
6ಹೀಗಿರುವದರಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಕೊಂಡು ಆತನ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಆತನಿಗೆ ಭಯಪಡಬೇಕು.
