ಫರೋಹನು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸದೆ ಕಠಿಣವಾಗಿದ್ದದರಿಂದ ಕರ್ತನು ಐಗುಪ್ತದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲಾದದ್ದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಅಂದರೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲಾ ದದ್ದು ಮೊದಲುಗೊಂಡು ಪಶುಗಳ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲಾದ ವುಗಳ ವರೆಗೆ ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದನು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ಚೊಚ್ಚಲಾದ ಗಂಡಾದವುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಪಿ ಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನನ್ನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಲ್ಲಿ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲಾದವರೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನು ವಿಮೋಚಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಬೇಕು ಅಂದನು.

King James Version (KJV): And it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that the LORD slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to the LORD all that openeth the matrix, being males; but all the firstborn of my children I redeem.

13ಮೊದಲು ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ ಕತ್ತೆಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕುರಿಮರಿ ಯಿಂದ ವಿಮೋಚಿಸಬೇಕು. ಹಾಗೆ ವಿಮೋಚನೆ ಮಾಡದೆಹೋದರೆ ಅದರ ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಮುರಿಯಬೇಕು. ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲ ಗಂಡುಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ನೀನು ವಿಮೋಚಿಸಬೇಕು.
14ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಮುಂದೆ ಬರುವ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಮಗನು ನಿನಗೆ--ಇದೇನು ಎಂದು ಕೇಳುವಾಗ ನೀನು ಅವನಿಗೆಕರ್ತನು ತನ್ನ ಬಲವಾದ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಐಗುಪ್ತದ ದಾಸತ್ವದ ಮನೆಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ಬರಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
15ಫರೋಹನು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸದೆ ಕಠಿಣವಾಗಿದ್ದದರಿಂದ ಕರ್ತನು ಐಗುಪ್ತದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲಾದದ್ದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಅಂದರೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲಾ ದದ್ದು ಮೊದಲುಗೊಂಡು ಪಶುಗಳ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲಾದ ವುಗಳ ವರೆಗೆ ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದನು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ಚೊಚ್ಚಲಾದ ಗಂಡಾದವುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಪಿ ಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನನ್ನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಲ್ಲಿ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲಾದವರೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನು ವಿಮೋಚಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಬೇಕು ಅಂದನು.
16ಇದು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಮೇಲೆ ಗುರುತಾಗಿಯೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಹಣೆಯ ಕಟ್ಟಾಗಿಯೂ ಇರಲಿ. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಕರ್ತನು ತನ್ನ ಬಲವಾದ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಐಗುಪ್ತದೊಳಗಿನಿಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ಬರಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
17ಫರೋಹನು ಜನರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟಾಗ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ದೇಶದ ದಾರಿಯು ಸವಿಾಪವಿದ್ದರೂ ದೇವರು ಅವರನ್ನು ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ನಡಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ದೇವರು--ಜನರು ಯುದ್ಧವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಬೇರೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವರು ಐಗುಪ್ತಕ್ಕೆ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಾರು ಎಂದು ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡನು.
