ದೇವರಿಗೂ ಕರ್ತನಾದ ಯೇಸು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನಿಗೂ ದಾಸನಾಗಿರುವ ಯಾಕೋಬ ನು ಅನ್ಯದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಚದರಿರುವ (ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌) ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಗೋತ್ರದವರಿಗೆ ವಂದನೆ.
James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರೇ, ನೀವು ನಾನಾವಿಧವಾದ ಸಂಕಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿದ್ದಿರುವಾಗ ಅದನ್ನು ಕೇವಲ ಆನಂದ ಕರವಾದದ್ದೆಂದು ಎಣಿಸಿರಿ.
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
ನಿಮ್ಮ ನಂಬಿಕೆಗೆ ಆಗುವ ಪರಿಶೋಧನೆಯು ತಾಳ್ಮೆಯನ್ನುಂಟು ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆಂದು ನೀವು ತಿಳಿಯಿರಿ.
Knowing [this], that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
ಆ ತಾಳ್ಮೆಯು ಸಿದ್ದಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ನೀವು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣರೂ ಸಿದ್ಧವಾದವರೂ ಯಾವದರ ಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಕಡಿಮೆಯಿಲ್ಲದವರೂ ಆಗಿರುವಿರಿ.
But let patience have [her] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವನಿಗಾದರೂ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಯಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಅವನು ದೇವರನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿ, ಅದು ಅವನಿಗೆ ದೊರಕುವದು; ದೇವರು ಹಂಗಿಸದೆ ಎಲ್ಲ ರಿಗೂ ಉದಾರ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ಕೊಡುವಾತನಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all [men] liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪವೂ ಸಂದೇಹ ಪಡದೆ ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿ. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಸಂದೇಹಪಡುವ ವನು ಗಾಳಿಯಿಂದ ಬಡಿಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಸಮುದ್ರದ ತೆರೆ ಯಂತೆ ಅಲೆದಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವನು.
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ತಾನು ಕರ್ತನಿಂದ ಏನಾದರೂ ಹೊಂದುವೆನೆಂದು ಭಾವಿಸದೆ ಇರಲಿ.
For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
ಎರಡು ಮನಸ್ಸುಳ್ಳವನು ತನ್ನ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳ ಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಚಂಚಲನಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
A double minded man [is] unstable in all his ways.
ಹೀನಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸಹೋದರನು ತಾನು ಉನ್ನತ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಗೆ ಬಂದೆನೆಂದು ಉಲ್ಲಾಸಪಡಲಿ;
Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:
ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯ ವಂತನಾದ ಸಹೋದರನು ತಾನು ದೀನಸ್ಥಿತಿಗೆ ಬಂದೆ ನೆಂದು ಉಲ್ಲಾಸಪಡಲಿ. ಆದರೆ ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯವಂತನು ಹುಲ್ಲಿನ ಹೂವಿನಂತೆ ಗತಿಸಿ ಹೋಗುವನು.
But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
ಸೂರ್ಯನು ಉದಯಿಸಿದ ತಕ್ಷಣವೇ ಉಷ್ಣತೆ ಯಿಂದ ಹುಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಬಾಡಿಸಲು ಆ ಹುಲ್ಲಿನ ಹೂವು ಉದುರಿ ಅದರ ರೂಪದ ಸೊಗಸು ನಾಶವಾಗು ವದಷ್ಟೇ. ಹೀಗೆಯೇ ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯವಂತನು ತನ್ನ ದಾರಿ ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಡಿ ಹೋಗುವನು.
For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
ಕಷ್ಟಗಳನ್ನು ಸಹಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನು ಧನ್ಯನು; ಅವನು ಪರಿಶೋಧಿತನಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕರ್ತನು ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸುವವರಿಗೆ ವಾಗ್ದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದ ಜೀವದ ಕಿರೀಟ ವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದುವನು;
Blessed [is] the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ಶೋಧನೆಗೆ ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವಾಗ--ಈ ಪ್ರೇರಣೆಯು ನನಗೆ ದೇವರಿಂದ ಉಂಟಾಯಿತೆಂದು ಹೇಳಬಾರದು. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ದೇವರು ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದರಿಂದ ಶೋಧಿಸಲಾರನು; ಆತನು ಯಾರನ್ನೂ ಶೋಧಿಸುವದೂ ಇಲ್ಲ.
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
ಆದರೆ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನು ತನ್ನ ಸ್ವಂತ ದುರಾಶೆಯಿಂದ ಎಳೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟು ಮರುಳುಗೊಂಡವನಾಗಿ ಶೋಧಿಸಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತಾನೆ.
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
ಆಮೇಲೆ ದುರಾಶೆಯು ಗರ್ಭಧರಿಸಿ ಪಾಪವನ್ನು ಹೆರುತ್ತದೆ; ಪಾಪವು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಮರಣ ವನ್ನು ಹಡೆಯುತ್ತದೆ.
Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಿಯ ಸಹೋದರರೇ, ತಪ್ಪು ಮಾಡಬೇಡಿರಿ.
Do not err, my beloved brethren.
ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಒಳ್ಳೇ ದಾನವೂ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾದ ಪ್ರತಿವರವೂ ಮೇಲಣ ವುಗಳೇ; ಅವು ಬೆಳಕುಗಳ ತಂದೆಯಿಂದ ಇಳಿದು ಬರುತ್ತವೆ. ಆತನಲ್ಲಿ ಚಂಚಲತ್ವವೇನೂ ಇಲ್ಲ, ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸದ ನೆರಳೂ ಇಲ್ಲ.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
ಆತನು ತನ್ನ ಚಿತ್ತದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಸತ್ಯವಾಕ್ಯದಿಂದ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಹುಟ್ಟಿಸಿರಲಾಗಿ ನಾವು ಆತನ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ತರಹದ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಫಲ ಗಳಂತಾದೆವು.
Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
ಆದದರಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಿಯ ಸಹೋದರರೇ, ಪ್ರತಿ ಯೊಬ್ಬನು ಕಿವಿಗೊಡುವದರಲ್ಲಿ ತೀವ್ರವಾಗಿಯೂ ಮಾತನಾಡುವದರಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕೋಪಿಸುವದರಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಧಾನವಾಗಿಯೂ ಇರಲಿ.
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಕೋಪವು ದೇವರ ನೀತಿಯನ್ನು ನಡಿಸುವದಿಲ್ಲ.
For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
ಆದಕಾರಣ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಮಲಿನತೆಯನ್ನೂ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ದುಷ್ಟತನವನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಿ ಒಳಗೆ ಬೇರೂರಿರುವ ವಾಕ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ನಮ್ರತೆ ಯಿಂದ ಎಡೆಕೊಡಿರಿ; ಅದು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಆತ್ಮಗಳನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸು ವದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯವುಳ್ಳದ್ದಾಗಿದೆ.
Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
ನೀವು ವಾಕ್ಯದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನಡೆಯುವವರಾಗಿರ್ರಿ; ಅದನ್ನು ಕೇಳುವವರು ಮಾತ್ರವೇ ಆಗಿದ್ದು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನೀವೇ ಮೋಸಗೊಳಿಸ ಬೇಡಿರಿ.
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ವಾಕ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕೇಳುವವ ನಾಗಿದ್ದು ಅದರ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನಡೆಯದಿದ್ದರೆ ಅವನು ಕನ್ನಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಹುಟ್ಟು ಮುಖವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಂತಿರುವನು.
For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
ಇವನು ತನ್ನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ತಾನು ಹೀಗಿದ್ದೇನೆಂಬದನ್ನು ಆ ಕ್ಷಣವೇ ಮರೆತುಬಿಡುವನು.
For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
ಆದರೆ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಯನ್ನುಂಟುಮಾಡುವ ಪರಿಪೂರ್ಣವಾದ ನಿಯಮ ವನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯಕೊಟ್ಟು ನೋಡಿ ಇನ್ನೂ ನೋಡುತ್ತಲೇ ಇರುವವನು (ವಾಕ್ಯವನ್ನು) ಕೇಳಿ ಮರೆತುಹೋಗುವವ ನಾಗಿರದೆ ಅದರ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನಡೆಯುವವನಾಗಿದ್ದು ತನ್ನ ಕ್ರಿಯೆಯಿಂದ ಧನ್ಯನಾಗುವನು.
But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth [therein], he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಭಕ್ತನೆಂದೆ ಣಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ತನ್ನ ನಾಲಿಗೆಗೆ ಕಡಿವಾಣವನ್ನು ಹಾಕದೆ ತನ್ನ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ಮೋಸ ಗೊಳಿಸುವವನಾದರೆ ಅವನ ಭಕ್ತಿ ನಿಷ್ಪ್ರಯೋಜನ ವಾಗಿದೆ.ಸಂಕಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿದ್ದ ದಿಕ್ಕಿಲ್ಲದವರನ್ನೂ ವಿಧವೆ ಯರನ್ನೂ ಪರಾಮರಿಸಿ ತನಗೆ ಪ್ರಪಂಚದ ದೋಷವು ಹತ್ತದಂತೆ ನೋಡಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವದೇ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ದೇವರ ಸನ್ನಿಧಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಶುದ್ಧವೂ ನಿರ್ಮಲವೂ ಆಗಿರುವ ಭಕ್ತಿ.
If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion [is] vain.
ಸಂಕಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿದ್ದ ದಿಕ್ಕಿಲ್ಲದವರನ್ನೂ ವಿಧವೆ ಯರನ್ನೂ ಪರಾಮರಿಸಿ ತನಗೆ ಪ್ರಪಂಚದ ದೋಷವು ಹತ್ತದಂತೆ ನೋಡಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವದೇ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ದೇವರ ಸನ್ನಿಧಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಶುದ್ಧವೂ ನಿರ್ಮಲವೂ ಆಗಿರುವ ಭಕ್ತಿ.
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, [and] to keep himself unspotted from the world.
