ಅವರ ಹಿಂದೆ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಬಡಿಯ ಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಹಾಗೆ ತೋರಿ ಅರಣ್ಯದ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಓಡಿ ಹೋದರು.

- 13ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಉತ್ತರ ದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸಕಲ ಸೈನ್ಯದ ಜನರನ್ನೂ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ದಿಕ್ಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಂಚುಹಾಕುವವರನ್ನೂ ಇಟ್ಟ ತರುವಾಯ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಆ ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಗ್ಗಿನ ಮಧ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದನು.
- 14ಆಯಿಯ ಅರಸನು ಇದನ್ನು ಕಂಡಾಗ ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಜನರು ತ್ವರೆಪಟ್ಟು ಉದಯ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಎದ್ದು ನಿಶ್ಚಯಿಸಿದ ವೇಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನೂ ಅವನ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡಲು ಬೈಲಿಗೆ ಹೊರಟರು. ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಹಿಂದೆ ತನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಹೊಂಚಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ವರನ್ನು ಅರಿಯದೆ ಇದ್ದನು.
- 15ಅವರ ಹಿಂದೆ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಬಡಿಯ ಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಹಾಗೆ ತೋರಿ ಅರಣ್ಯದ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಓಡಿ ಹೋದರು.
- 16ಆಗ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅವರನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟರು; ಯೆಹೋಶುವನನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟುವವರಾಗಿ ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಬಳಿಯಿಂದ ದೂರ ಸೆಳೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟು ಹೋದರು.
- 17ಆಯಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಬೇತೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇ ಲಿನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೊರಟು ಹೋಗದ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಒಬ್ಬನೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ತೆರೆದಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿದರು.
