ಆದರೆ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದ್ಯನಾದ ಯೆಫ್ತಾಹನು ಬಲಿಷ್ಠನಾದ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಯಾಗಿ ದ್ದನು; ಅವನು ಸೂಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದನ ಮಗನು.
Aadare gilyaadyanaada yephtaahanu balishthanaada paraakramashaaliyaagi ddanu; avanu sooleyalli huttida gilyaadana maganu.

- 2ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದನ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕುಮಾರರನ್ನು ಪಡೆದಳು. ಅವನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ದೊಡ್ಡವರಾದಾಗ ಅವರು ಯೆಫ್ತಾಹನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ನಮ್ಮ ತಂದೆಯ ಮನೆಯ ಬಾಧ್ಯಸ್ಥನಲ್ಲ; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನೀನು ಪರಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಮಗನು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹೊರಗೆ ಹಾಕಿದರು.
- 3ಆಗ ಯೆಫ್ತಾಹನು ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರ ಬಳಿಯಿಂದ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ ಟೋಬ್‌ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದನು; ಆ ಸ್ಥಳದ ನಿಷ್ಪ್ರಯೋಜಕ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಯೆಫ್ತಾಹನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕೂಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಹೊರಗೆ ಹೊರಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
