ಕರ್ತನ ಆತ್ಮವು ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಂದದ್ದ ರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಅಷ್ಕೆಲೋನಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಆ ಊರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂವತ್ತು ಜನರನ್ನು ವಧಿಸಿ ಸುಲುಕೊಂಡು ಒಗಟನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದವರಿಗೆ ದುಸ್ತುವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.ಅವನು ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೊರಟು ಹೋದನು. ಆದರೆ ಸಂಸೋನನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯು ಅವನ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನಾಗಿದ್ದ ಒಬ್ಬನಿಗೆ ಕೊಡಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಳು.

- 17ಅವರಿಗೆ ಔತಣ ಇದ್ದ ಏಳು ದಿವಸಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನ ಮುಂದೆ ಅವಳು ಅತ್ತಳು. ಆದರೆ ಏಳನೇ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವಳು ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಪೀಡಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವಳಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದನು. ಆಗ ಆಕೆ ತನ್ನ ಜನರ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಆ ಒಗಟನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದಳು.
- 18ಆದದ ರಿಂದ ಏಳನೇ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೂರ್ಯನು ಮುಳುಗುವದ ಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮುಂಚೆ ಆ ಊರಿನವರು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ಜೇನಿಗಿಂತ ಸಿಹಿಯಾದದ್ದೇನು? ಸಿಂಹಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಬಲವಾದದ್ದೇನು? ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಅವನು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ನೀವು ನನ್ನ ಕಡಸಿನಿಂದ ಉಳದಿದ್ದರೆ ನನ್ನ ಒಗಟನ್ನು ಗ್ರಹಿಸಲಾರಿರಿ ಅಂದನು.
