ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಗಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ನಾನು ತಿಮ್ನಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಕುರ್ಮಾತೆಯರೊಳಗೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದೆನು. ಈಗ ಅವಳನ್ನು ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾಗುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನನಗೆ ತಕ್ಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ ಅಂದನು.

- 3ಆಗ ಅವನ ತಂದೆ ತಾಯಿಯೂ ಅವನಿಗೆ--ನಿನಗೆ ಸುನ್ನತಿ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿ ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಳ್ಳುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹೋ ದರರ ಕುಮಾರ್ತೆಯರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರ ಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಸ್ತ್ರೀ ಇಲ್ಲವೋ ಅಂದರು. ಆದರೆ ಸಂಸೋನನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಗೆ--ಅವಳನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೋ; ಅವಳು ನನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿದ್ದಾಳೆ ಅಂದನು.
- 4ಇದು ಕರ್ತನಿಂದ ಉಂಟಾಯಿತೆಂದು ಅವನ ತಂದೆ ತಾಯಂದಿರು ಅರಿ ಯದೆ ಇದ್ದರು. ಏನಂದರೆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧ ವಾಗಿ ಅವನು ಕಾರಣವನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿದನು. ಆ ಕಾಲ ದಲ್ಲಿ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರನ್ನೂ ಆಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
