ಅರಸನಾದ ಅರ್ತಷಸ್ತನ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತನೇವರುಷದ ನೀಸಾನ್‌ ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಏನಾಯಿ ತಂದರೆ, ಅವನ ಮುಂದೆ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವಿರುವಾಗ ನಾನು ಆ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟೆನು. ಆದರೆ ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಂಚೆ ನಾನು ಅವನ ಸಮ್ಮುಖ ದಲ್ಲಿ ದುಃಖಿತನಾಗಿದ್ದದ್ದಿಲ್ಲ.

- 1ಅರಸನಾದ ಅರ್ತಷಸ್ತನ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತನೇವರುಷದ ನೀಸಾನ್‌ ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಏನಾಯಿ ತಂದರೆ, ಅವನ ಮುಂದೆ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವಿರುವಾಗ ನಾನು ಆ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟೆನು. ಆದರೆ ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಂಚೆ ನಾನು ಅವನ ಸಮ್ಮುಖ ದಲ್ಲಿ ದುಃಖಿತನಾಗಿದ್ದದ್ದಿಲ್ಲ.
- 2ಆದಕಾರಣ ಅರಸನು ನನಗೆ--ನಿನಗೆ ಕಾಯಿಲೆ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಮುಖವು ದುಃಖವಾಗಿರುವದೇನು? ನಿನಗೆ ರೋಗವಿಲ್ಲವಲ್ಲಾ? ಇದು ಮನೋ ದುಃಖವಲ್ಲದೆ ಮತ್ತೊಂದಲ್ಲ ಅಂದನು.
- 3ಆಗ ನಾನು ಬಹು ಭಯಪಟ್ಟು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ--ಅರಸನು ಎಂದೆಂದಿಗೂ ಬಾಳಲಿ. ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಗಳ ಸಮಾಧಿ ಗಳಿರುವ ಸ್ಥಳವಾದ ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣವು ಹಾಳಾಗಿದ್ದು ಅದರ ಬಾಗಲುಗಳು ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಂದ ಸುಡಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿರುವಾಗ ನನ್ನ ಮುಖವು ದುಃಖವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಇರುವದು ಹೇಗೆ ಅಂದೆನು.
