ಹೇಗಂದರೆ ಅವರು ಎಷ್ಕೋಲೆಂಬ ತಗ್ಗಿನ ವರೆಗೆ ಬಂದು ದೇಶವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ಕರ್ತನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟ ದೇಶದೊಳಗೆ ಹೋಗದ ಹಾಗೆ ಅಧೈರ್ಯಪಡಿಸಿದರು.

8ನಾನು ದೇಶವನ್ನು ನೋಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾದೇಶ್‌ಬರ್ನೇಯದಿಂದ ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದಾಗ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪಿತೃಗಳು ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
9ಹೇಗಂದರೆ ಅವರು ಎಷ್ಕೋಲೆಂಬ ತಗ್ಗಿನ ವರೆಗೆ ಬಂದು ದೇಶವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ಕರ್ತನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟ ದೇಶದೊಳಗೆ ಹೋಗದ ಹಾಗೆ ಅಧೈರ್ಯಪಡಿಸಿದರು.
10ಕರ್ತನು ಅದೇ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೋಪೋದ್ರೇಕವುಳ್ಳವನಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಮಾಣಮಾಡಿ--
11ಅವರು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿ ಸದೆ ಇರುವದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮ್‌ ಇಸಾಕ್‌ ಯಾಕೋಬರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಮಾಣಮಾಡಿದ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಐಗುಪ್ತದೊಳಗಿಂದ ಏರಿಬಂದ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ವರುಷವೂ ಅದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಅಧಿಕವಾದ ಪ್ರಾಯವುಳ್ಳ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ
