2. 7ശമൂവേൽ അന്നുവരെ യഹോവയെ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല; യഹോവയുടെ വചനം അവന്നു അന്നുവരെ വെളിപ്പെട്ടതുമില്ല.
3. 8യഹോവ ശമൂവേലിനെ മൂന്നാം പ്രാവശ്യം വിളിച്ചു. അവൻ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഏലിയുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു: അടിയൻ ഇതാ; എന്നെ വിളിച്ചുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോൾ യഹോവയായിരുന്നു ബാലനെ വിളിച്ചതു എന്നു ഏലിക്കു മനസ്സിലായി.
4. 9ഏലി ശമൂവേലിനോടു: പോയി കിടന്നുകൊൾക; ഇനിയും നിന്നെ വിളിച്ചാൽ: യഹോവേ, അരുളിച്ചെയ്യേണമേ; അടിയൻ കേൾക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു കൊള്ളേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ ശമൂവേൽ തന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തു ചെന്നുകിടന്നു.
