ഉസ്സീയാവു വാഴ്ചതുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ അവന്നു പതിനാറു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു. അവൻ അമ്പത്തിരണ്ടു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമിൽ വാണു. അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു യെഖൊല്യാ എന്നു പേർ. അവൾ യെരൂശലേംകാരത്തി ആയിരുന്നു.

5ദൈവഭയത്തിൽ അവനെ ഉപദേശിച്ചുവന്ന സെഖര്യാവിന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലത്തു അവൻ ദൈവത്തെ അന്വേഷിച്ചു: അവൻ യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിച്ച കാലത്തോളം ദൈവം അവന്നു അഭിവൃദ്ധി നല്കി.
