രാജാവിന്റെ കല്പനയും വിധിയും പരസ്യമായപ്പോൾ അനേകം യുവതികളെ ശേഖരിച്ചു ശൂശൻ രാജധാനിയിൽ ഹേഗായിയുടെ വിചാരണയിൽ ഏല്പിച്ച കൂട്ടത്തിൽ എസ്ഥേരിനെയും രാജധാനിയിലെ അന്തഃപുരപാലകനായ ഹേഗായിയുടെ വിചാരണയിൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

King James Version (KJV): So it came to pass, when the king’s commandment and his decree was heard, and when many maidens were gathered together unto Shushan the palace, to the custody of Hegai, that Esther was brought also unto the king’s house, to the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women.
World English Bible (WEB): So, when the king’s commandment and his decree was heard, and when many maidens were gathered together to the citadel of Susa, to the custody of Hegai, Esther was taken into the king’s house, to the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women.

10എസ്ഥേർ തന്റെ ജാതിയും കുലവും അറിയിച്ചില്ല; അതു അറിയിക്കരുതു എന്നു മൊർദ്ദേഖായി അവളോടു കല്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.
