- 6അവർ യിരെമ്യാവെ പിടിച്ചു കാവൽപുരമുറ്റത്തു രാജകുമാരനായ മല്ക്കീയാവിന്നുള്ള കുഴിയിൽ ഇറക്കി; കയറുകൊണ്ടായിരുന്നു അവർ യിരെമ്യാവെ ഇറക്കിയതു; കുഴിയിൽ ചെളിയല്ലാതെ വെള്ളമില്ലായിരുന്നു; യിരെമ്യാവു ചെളിയിൽ താണു.

- 8ഏബെദ്-മേലെക്ക് രാജഗൃഹത്തിൽനിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു രാജാവിനോടു സംസാരിച്ചു:
- 9യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, ഈ മനുഷ്യർ യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകനോടു ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും അന്യായമത്രേ; അവർ അവനെ കുഴിയിൽ ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു; നഗരത്തിൽ അപ്പം ഇല്ലായ്കയാൽ അവൻ അവിടെ പട്ടിണികിടന്നു ചാകേയുള്ള എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
- 10രാജാവു കൂശ്യനായ ഏബെദ്-മേലെക്കിനോടു: നീ ഇവിടെനിന്നു മുപ്പതു ആളുകളെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു, യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകൻ മരിക്കുംമുമ്പെ അവനെ കുഴിയിൽനിന്നു കയറ്റിക്കൊൾക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.
