1. 27എന്നാൽ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ പുരുഷന്മാരും സ്ത്രീകളും നിറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു; സകല ഫെലിസ്ത്യപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും അവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ശിംശോൻ കളിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടുകൊണ്ടിരുന്ന പുരുഷന്മാരും സ്ത്രീകളുമായി ഏകദേശം മൂവായിരംപേർ മാളികയിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
2. 28അപ്പോൾ ശിംശോൻ യഹോവയോടു പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചു: കർത്താവായ യഹോവേ, എന്നെ ഓർക്കേണമേ; ദൈവമേ, ഞാൻ എന്റെ രണ്ടു കണ്ണിന്നും വേണ്ടി ഫെലിസ്ത്യരോടു പ്രതികാരം ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു ഈ ഒരു പ്രാവശ്യം മാത്രം എനിക്കു ശക്തി നല്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
3. 29ക്ഷേത്രം നില്ക്കുന്ന രണ്ടു നടുത്തുണും ഒന്നു വലങ്കൈകൊണ്ടും മറ്റേതു ഇടങ്കൈകൊണ്ടും ശിംശോൻ പിടിച്ചു അവയോടു ചാരി:
4. 30ഞാൻ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരോടുകൂടെ മരിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു ശിംശോൻ പറഞ്ഞു ശക്തിയോടെ കുനിഞ്ഞു; ഉടനെ ക്ഷേത്രം അതിലുള്ള പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെയും സകലജനത്തിന്റെയും മേൽ വീണു. അങ്ങനെ അവൻ മരണസമയത്തുകൊന്നവർ ജീവകാലത്തു കൊന്നവരെക്കാൾ അധികമായിരുന്നു.
5. 31അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരും പിതൃഭവനമൊക്കെയും ചെന്നു അവനെ എടുത്തു സോരെക്കും എസ്തായോലിന്നും മദ്ധ്യേ അവന്റെ അപ്പനായ മാനോഹയുടെ ശ്മശാനസ്ഥലത്തു അടക്കംചെയ്തു. അവൻ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ഇരുപതു സംവത്സരം ന്യായപാലനം ചെയ്തിരുന്നു.
