1. 15ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ മരണത്തോളം അവൻ അവിടെ പാർത്തു: “മിസ്രയീമിൽ നിന്നു ഞാൻ എന്റെ മകനെ വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തി” എന്നു കർത്താവു പ്രവാചകൻ മുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു നിവൃത്തിയാകുവാൻ സംഗതിവന്നു.
2. 16വിദ്വാന്മാർ തന്നെ കളിയാക്കി എന്നു ഹെരോദാവു കണ്ടു വളരെ കോപിച്ചു, വിദ്വാന്മാരോടു ചോദിച്ചറിഞ്ഞ കാലത്തിന്നു ഒത്തവണ്ണം രണ്ടു വയസ്സും താഴെയുമുള്ള ആൺകുട്ടികളെ ഒക്കെയും ബേത്ത്ലേ ഹെമിലും അതിന്റെ എല്ലാ അതിരുകളിലും ആളയച്ചു കൊല്ലിച്ചു.
3. 17“റാമയിൽ ഒരു ശബ്ദം കേട്ടു, കരച്ചിലും വലിയ നിലവിളിയും തന്നേ; റാഹേൽ മക്കളെച്ചൊല്ലി കരഞ്ഞു; അവർ ഇല്ലായ്കയാൽ ആശ്വാസം കൈക്കൊൾവാൻ മനസ്സില്ലാതിരുന്നു”
4. 18എന്നു യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകൻ മുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു അന്നു നിവൃത്തിയായി.
5. 19എന്നാൽ ഹെരോദാവു കഴിഞ്ഞുപോയശേഷം കർത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതൻ മിസ്രയീമിൽ വെച്ചു യോസേഫിന്നു സ്വപ്നത്തിൽ പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി:
