And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, [that] wine [was] before him: and I took up the wine, and gave [it] unto the king. Now I had not been [beforetime] sad in his presence.

2. 2രാജാവു എന്നോടു: നിന്റെ മുഖം വാടിയിരിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു? നിനക്കു ദീനം ഒന്നും ഇല്ലല്ലോ; ഇതു മനോദുഃഖമല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊന്നുമല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
3. 3അപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ ഏറ്റവും ഭയപ്പെട്ടു രാജാവിനോടു: രാജാവു ദീർഘായുസ്സായിരിക്കട്ടെ; എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ കല്ലറകൾ ഉള്ള പട്ടണം ശൂന്യമായും അതിന്റെ വാതിലുകൾ തീകൊണ്ടു വെന്തും കിടക്കെ എന്റെ മുഖം വാടാതെ ഇരിക്കുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
