- 8తరువాత యుద్ధము సంభవించినప్పుడు దావీదు బయలుదేరి ఫిలిష్తీయులతో యుద్ధముచేసి వారిని ఓడించి వెనుకకు పారదోలి గొప్ప వధ చేయగా
- 9యెహోవాయొద్దనుండి దురాత్మ సౌలుమీదికి వచ్చెను. సౌలు ఈటె చేత పట్టుకొని యింట కూర్చుండి యుండెను. దావీదు సితారా వాయించుచుండగా
- 10సౌలు ఒకే దెబ్బతో దావీదును గోడకు పొడుచుదునన్న తాత్పర్యము గలిగి యీటె విసిరెను. దావీదు అతని యెదుటనుండి తప్పించుకొనినందున ఈటె గోడకు నాటగా దావీదు ఆ రాత్రియందు తప్పించుకొని పారిపోయెను.
- 11ఉదయమున అతని చంపవలెనని పొంచియుండి దావీదును పట్టుకొనుటకై సౌలు అతని యింటికి దూతలను పంపగా దావీదు భార్యయైన మీకాలుఈ రాత్రి నీ ప్రాణమును నీవు దక్కించుకొంటేనే గాని రేపు నీవు చంపబడుదువని చెప్పి
