அப்பொழுது தாண் மக்கள் மீகா செய்திருந்த தெய்வங்களை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, அவனுடைய பூசாரியையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு லாயீசுக்கு அங்கே அமைதியோடும், தன்னம்பிக்கையோடும் வாழ்ந்த மக்களுக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் போனார்கள். அவர்கள் அங்குள்ளவர்களை வாளால் வெட்டி அப்பட்டணத்தைத் தீக்கிரையாக்கினார்கள்.

மீகா செய்த விக்கிரகங்களைத் தாணின் ஆட்கள் எடுத்து சென்றனர். மீகாவுடனிருந்த ஆசாரியனையும் அவர்கள் தங்களுடன் அழைத்து லாயீஸிக்கு வந்தனர். அங்குள்ள ஜனங்கள் அமைதியாக வாழ்ந்தனர். அவர்கள் எந்தத் தாக்குதலையும் எதிர்பார்க்கவில்லை. தாணின் ஆட்கள் தங்கள் வாளால் அவர்களை கொன்றுப் போட்டு, அவர்கள் நகரத்தை எரித்தனர்.

And they took [the things] which Micah had made, and the priest which he had, and came unto Laish, unto a people [that were] at quiet and secure: and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and burnt the city with fire.

4. 28அது சீதோனுக்குத் தூரமாயிருந்தது; வேறே மனுஷரோடே அவர்களுக்குச் சம்பந்தமில்லாமலும் இருந்தபடியால், அவர்களைத் தப்புவிப்பார் ஒருவரும் இல்லை; அந்தப் பட்டணம் பெத்ரேகோபுக்குச் சமீபமான பள்ளத்தாக்கில் இருந்தது; அவர்கள் அதைத் திரும்பக் கட்டி, அதிலே குடியிருந்து,
