उस मनुष्य ने एली से कहा, मैं वही हूं जो सेना में से आया हूं; और मैं सेना से आज ही भाग आया। वह बोला, हे मेरे बेटे, क्या समाचार है?
Us manushy ne elee se kahaa, maim vahee hoom jo senaa mem se aayaa hoom; aur maim senaa se aaj hee bhaag aayaa. Vah bolaa, he mere bete, kyaa samaachaar hai?

- 18ज्योंही उस ने परमेश्वर के सन्दूक का नाम लिया त्योंही एली फाटक के पास कुर्सी पर से पछाड़ खाकर गिर पड़ा; और बूढ़े और भारी होने के कारण उसकी गर्दन टूट गई, और वह मर गया। उस ने तो इस्राएलियों का न्याय चालीस वर्ष तक किया था।
