तौभी जितनी ईंटें अब तक उन्हें बनानी पड़ती थीं उतनी ही आगे को भी उन से बनवाना, ईंटों की गिनती कुछ भी न घटाना; क्योंकि वे आलसी हैं; इस कारण यह कहकर चिल्लाते हैं, कि हम जाकर अपने परमेश्वर के लिये बलिदान करें।

Taubhee jitanee eentem ab tak unhem banaanee padatee theem utanee hee aage ko bhee un se banavaanaa, eentom kee ginatee kuchh bhee na ghataanaa; kyonki ve aalasee haim; is kaaran yah kahakar chillaate haim, ki ham jaakar apane parameshvar ke liye balidaan karen.

King James Version (KJV): And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish [ought] thereof: for they [be] idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go [and] sacrifice to our God.
World English Bible (WEB): You shall require from them the number of the bricks which they made before. You shall not diminish anything of it, for they are idle. Therefore they cry, saying, ‘Let’s go and sacrifice to our God.’
American Standard Version (ASV): And the number of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish aught thereof: for they are idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.

9उन मनुष्यों से और भी कठिन सेवा करवाई जाए कि वे उस में परिश्रम करते रहें और झूठी बातों पर ध्यान न लगाएं।
10तब लोगों के परिश्रम करानेवालों ने और सरदारों ने बाहर जाकर उन से कहा, फिरौन इस प्रकार कहता है, कि मैं तुम्हें पुआल नहीं दूंगा।
