1. 3ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೋವಾಬನು--ಕರ್ತನು ತನ್ನ ಜನರನ್ನು ಈಗ ಇರುವದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ನೂರರಷ್ಟಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಲಿ; ಆದರೆ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಅರಸನೇ, ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರು ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನ ಸೇವಕರಲ್ಲವೋ? ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನು ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ವಿಚಾರಿಸುವದು ಯಾಕೆ? ಅವನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪರಾಧಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣವಾಗುವದು ಯಾಕೆ ಅಂದನು.
2. 4ಆದರೆ ಅರಸನ ಮಾತು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಜಯಗೊಂಡಿತು. ಆಗ ಯೋವಾಬನು ಹೊರಟು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಸಮಸ್ತ ದೇಶದ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ತಿರಿಗಿ ಬಂದು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ಜನರ ಒಟ್ಟು ಲೆಕ್ಕವನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
3. 5ಕತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯುವ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ಹನ್ನೊಂದು ಲಕ್ಷಜನರಾಗಿದ್ದರು; ಕತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯುವ ಯೆಹೂದದ ಜನರು ನಾಲ್ಕು ಲಕ್ಷದ ಎಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
4. 6ಆದರೆ ಲೇವಿಯರನ್ನೂ ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನ್ಯ ರನ್ನೂ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಎಣಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅರಸನ ಮಾತು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ ಅಸಹ್ಯಕರವಾಗಿತ್ತು.
5. 7ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯವು ದೇವರ ಸಮ್ಮುಖದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಟ್ಟದಾದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆತನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರನ್ನು ಬಾಧಿಸಿ ದನು.
