Then said the king, The one saith, This [is] my son that liveth, and thy son [is] the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son [is] the dead, and my son [is] the living.

1. 21ಉದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಕೂಸಿಗೆ ಮೊಲೆ ಕೊಡಲು ಎದ್ದಾಗ ಇಗೋ, ಅದು ಸತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಉದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಯೋಚಿಸಿದಾಗ ಇಗೋ, ಅದು ನಾನು ಹೆತ್ತ ಮಗುವಾಗಿದ್ದಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂದಳು.
2. 22ಆಗ ಆ ಬೇರೆ ಹೆಂಗಸು--ಇಲ್ಲ, ಬದುಕಿರುವವನು ನನ್ನ ಮಗನು, ಸತ್ತವನು ನಿನ್ನ ಮಗನು ಅಂದಳು. ಆದರೆ ನಾನು--ಹಾಗಲ್ಲ; ಸತ್ತವನು ನಿನ್ನ ಮಗನು, ಬದುಕಿರುವವನು ನನ್ನ ಮಗನು ಅಂದೆನು. ಹೀಗೆ ಅವರು ಅರಸನ ಮುಂದೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.
3. 23ಆಗ ಅರಸನುಇವಳು--ಬದುಕಿರುವವನು ನನ್ನ ಮಗನು, ಸತ್ತವನು ನಿನ್ನ ಮಗನು ಅನ್ನುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಅವಳು--ಹಾಗಲ್ಲ, ಸತ್ತವನು ನಿನ್ನ ಮಗನು, ಬದುಕಿರುವವನು ನನ್ನ ಮಗನು ಅನ್ನುತ್ತಾಳೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ
4. 24ಅರಸನು--ಕತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬಾ ಅಂದನು. ಅವರು ಕತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಅರಸನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಂದರು.
5. 25ಆಗ ಅರಸನುಬದುಕಿರುವ ಕೂಸನ್ನು ಎರಡು ತುಂಡಾಗಿ ಕಡಿದು ಇವಳಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಧಪಾಲನ್ನು ಅವಳಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಧ ಪಾಲನ್ನು ಕೊಡಿರಿ ಅಂದನು.
