3. 5ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರ ಸಂಗಡ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಲು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಮೂವತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ರಥಗಳೂ ಆರು ಸಾವಿರ ಕುದುರೆ ರಾಹುತರೂ ಸಮುದ್ರತೀರದ ಮರಳಷ್ಟು ಜನವೂ ಕೂಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಬೇತಾವೆನಿನ ಪೂರ್ವದಿಕ್ಕಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಮಿಕ್ಮಾಷಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳುಕೊಂಡರು.
4. 6ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌ ಜನರು ತಮಗೆ ಶ್ರಮೆ ಉಂಟಾದ್ದದರಿಂದ ತಾವು ಇಕ್ಕಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಗವಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಮುಳ್ಳಿನ ಪೊದೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಗುಡ್ಡಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ದುರ್ಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಕುಣಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಅಡಗಿಕೊಂಡರು.
5. 7ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಇಬ್ರಿಯರಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕೆಲವರು ಯೊರ್ದನನ್ನು ದಾಟಿ ಗಾದ್‌ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೂ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿಗೂ ಹೋದರು. ಆದರೆ ಸೌಲನು ಇನ್ನೂ ಗಿಲ್ಗಾಲಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದನು; ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರು ನಡುಗಿದವರಾಗಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿದರು.
