ಅವನು ಇವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಇರುವಾಗ ಇಗೋ, ಗತ್‌ ಊರಿನ ರಣವೀರನಾದ ಗೊಲ್ಯಾತನೆಂಬ ಆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಸೈನ್ಯದಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಮೊದಲಿನ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದನು; ಆ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ದಾವೀದನು ಕೇಳಿದನು.

22ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ತಾನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದದ್ದನ್ನು ಸಾಮಗ್ರಿ ಕಾಯುವವನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಟ್ಟು ರಣರಂಗಕ್ಕೆ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅವರನ್ನು ವಂದಿಸಿದನು.
23ಅವನು ಇವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಇರುವಾಗ ಇಗೋ, ಗತ್‌ ಊರಿನ ರಣವೀರನಾದ ಗೊಲ್ಯಾತನೆಂಬ ಆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಸೈನ್ಯದಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಮೊದಲಿನ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದನು; ಆ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ದಾವೀದನು ಕೇಳಿದನು.
24ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌ ಮನುಷ್ಯ ರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅವನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಬಹು ಭಯಪಟ್ಟು ಅವನ ಬಳಿಯಿಂದ ಓಡಿಹೋದರು.
25ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌ ಮನು ಷ್ಯರು--ಏರಿ ಬಂದ ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ದಿರೋ? ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲನ್ನು ಹೀಯಾಳಿಸಲು ಏರಿ ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾನಲ್ಲಾ. ಯಾವನು ಇವನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಬಿಡು ವನೋ ಅವನನ್ನು ಅರಸನು ಬಹಳ ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯ ವಂತನಾಗ ಮಾಡಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಮಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಅವನ ತಂದೆಯ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಸರ್ವ ಮಾನ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವನು ಅಂದರು.
