ಆದರೆ ದಾವೀದನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿ ಜನರ ಸಹಿತವಾಗಿ ಬರುವಾಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳಿಂದ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರು ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ದಮ್ಮಡಿಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ಸಂಗೀತವಾದ್ಯಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ಹಾಡುತ್ತಾ ನಾಟ್ಯವಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಅರಸನಾದ ಸೌಲನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಳ್ಳಲು ಬಂದರು.

- 6ಆದರೆ ದಾವೀದನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿ ಜನರ ಸಹಿತವಾಗಿ ಬರುವಾಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳಿಂದ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರು ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ದಮ್ಮಡಿಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ಸಂಗೀತವಾದ್ಯಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ಹಾಡುತ್ತಾ ನಾಟ್ಯವಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಅರಸನಾದ ಸೌಲನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಳ್ಳಲು ಬಂದರು.
- 7ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರು ಹಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಒಬ್ಬರಿಗೊಬ್ಬರು--ಸೌಲನು ಸಾವಿರಗಳನ್ನೂ ದಾವೀ ದನು ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕೊಂದನೆಂದು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರ ಕೊಟ್ಟರು.
- 8ಸೌಲನಿಗೆ ಬಹು ಕೋಪವಾಯಿತು; ಆ ಮಾತು ಅವನಿಗೆ ವ್ಯಸನಕರವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಇವರು ದಾವೀದ ನಿಗೆ ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ; ನನಗೆ ಸಾವಿರ ಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ; ಅವನಿಗೆ ರಾಜ್ಯವಲ್ಲದೆ ಇನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಬೇಕಾದದ್ದೇನು ಅಂದನು.
