1. 6ಆದರೆ ದಾವೀದನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿ ಜನರ ಸಹಿತವಾಗಿ ಬರುವಾಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳಿಂದ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರು ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ದಮ್ಮಡಿಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ಸಂಗೀತವಾದ್ಯಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ಹಾಡುತ್ತಾ ನಾಟ್ಯವಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಅರಸನಾದ ಸೌಲನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಳ್ಳಲು ಬಂದರು.
2. 7ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರು ಹಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಒಬ್ಬರಿಗೊಬ್ಬರು--ಸೌಲನು ಸಾವಿರಗಳನ್ನೂ ದಾವೀ ದನು ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕೊಂದನೆಂದು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರ ಕೊಟ್ಟರು.
3. 8ಸೌಲನಿಗೆ ಬಹು ಕೋಪವಾಯಿತು; ಆ ಮಾತು ಅವನಿಗೆ ವ್ಯಸನಕರವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಇವರು ದಾವೀದ ನಿಗೆ ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ; ನನಗೆ ಸಾವಿರ ಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ; ಅವನಿಗೆ ರಾಜ್ಯವಲ್ಲದೆ ಇನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಬೇಕಾದದ್ದೇನು ಅಂದನು.
4. 9ಆ ದಿವಸ ಮೊದಲು ಗೊಂಡು ಸೌಲನು ದಾವೀದನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಣ್ಣಿಟ್ಟನು.
5. 10ಮಾರನೆ ದಿವಸದಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವರಿಂದ ಬಂದ ದುರಾತ್ಮವು ಸೌಲನ ಮೇಲೆ ಇಳಿಯಿತು. ಅವನು ಮನೆಯ ಮಧ್ಯ ದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು (ಕಾಲಜ್ಞಾನ). ಆಗ ದಾವೀ ದನು ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಬಾರಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು. ಆದರೆ ಸೌಲನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈಟಿಯು ಇತ್ತು.
