1. 12ನಾವು ಹೋಗೋಣ ಅಂದನು. ದಾವೀದನು ಸೌಲನ ತಲೆ ದಿಂಬಿನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಈಟಿಯನ್ನೂ ನೀರಿನ ತಂಬಿಗೆ ಯನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವರು ಹೊರಟು ಹೋದರು. ಒಬ್ಬರಾದರೂ ನೋಡಿದ್ದಿಲ್ಲ; ಅರಿತಿದ್ದಿಲ್ಲ; ಯಾರೂ ಎಚ್ಚತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಕರ್ತನಿಂದ ಅಗಾಧ ನಿದ್ರೆಯು ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಇಳಿದ ಕಾರಣ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ನಿದ್ರೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
2. 13ದಾವೀದನು ದಾಟಿ ಆ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ತಮಗೂ ಅವರಿಗೂ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹಳ ಸ್ಥಳ ಇರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ದೂರವಾಗಿರುವ ಒಂದು ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಕೊನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತು ಜನರಿಗೂ ನೇರನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಬ್ನೇರನಿಗೂ ಎದು ರಾಗಿ ಕೂಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ--
3. 14ಅಬ್ನೇರನೇ, ನೀನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರ ಕೊಡುವದಿಲ್ಲವೋ ಅಂದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ--ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಕೂಗುವ ನೀನು ಯಾರು ಅಂದನು.
4. 15ಆಗ ದಾವೀ ದನು ಅಬ್ನೇರನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ -- ನೀನು ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ? ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನಗೆ ಸಮಾನನಾದವನು ಯಾರು? ಆದರೆ ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಕಾಯದೆ ಹೋದದ್ದೇನು? ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನು ನಿನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದನು.
5. 16ನೀನು ಮಾಡಿದ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಒಳ್ಳೇದಲ್ಲ. ಕರ್ತನ ಜೀವ ದಾಣೆ--ಕರ್ತನ ಅಭಿಷಿಕ್ತನಾದ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಒಡೆಯನನ್ನು ಕಾಯದೆ ಹೋದದರಿಂದ ಮರಣಕ್ಕೆ ನೀವು ಪಾತ್ರರು. ಈಗ ಅರಸನ ತಲೆದಿಂಬಿನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಅವನ ಈಟಿಯೂ ನೀರಿನ ತಂಬಿಗೆಯೂ ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಇವೆಯೋ ನೋಡು ಅಂದನು.
