ದಾವೀದನು ದಾಟಿ ಆ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ತಮಗೂ ಅವರಿಗೂ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹಳ ಸ್ಥಳ ಇರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ದೂರವಾಗಿರುವ ಒಂದು ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಕೊನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತು ಜನರಿಗೂ ನೇರನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಬ್ನೇರನಿಗೂ ಎದು ರಾಗಿ ಕೂಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ--
Daaveedanu daati aa kadege hogi tamagoo avarigoo madhyadalli bahala sthala iruva haage dooravaagiruva ondu bettada koneyalli nintu janarigoo nerana maganaada abneranigoo edu raagi koogi heliddenandare--

- 11ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ಕರ್ತನ ಅಭಿಷಿಕ್ತನ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಾಕದಹಾಗೆ ಕರ್ತನು ನನಗೆ ಆಟಂಕಮಾಡಲಿ. ಆದರೆ ನೀನು ಅವನ ತಲೆದಿಂಬಿನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಈಟಿಯನ್ನೂ ನೀರಿನ ತಂಬಿಗೆಯನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೋ;
- 12ನಾವು ಹೋಗೋಣ ಅಂದನು. ದಾವೀದನು ಸೌಲನ ತಲೆ ದಿಂಬಿನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಈಟಿಯನ್ನೂ ನೀರಿನ ತಂಬಿಗೆ ಯನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವರು ಹೊರಟು ಹೋದರು. ಒಬ್ಬರಾದರೂ ನೋಡಿದ್ದಿಲ್ಲ; ಅರಿತಿದ್ದಿಲ್ಲ; ಯಾರೂ ಎಚ್ಚತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಕರ್ತನಿಂದ ಅಗಾಧ ನಿದ್ರೆಯು ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಇಳಿದ ಕಾರಣ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ನಿದ್ರೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
- 13ದಾವೀದನು ದಾಟಿ ಆ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ತಮಗೂ ಅವರಿಗೂ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹಳ ಸ್ಥಳ ಇರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ದೂರವಾಗಿರುವ ಒಂದು ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಕೊನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತು ಜನರಿಗೂ ನೇರನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಬ್ನೇರನಿಗೂ ಎದು ರಾಗಿ ಕೂಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ--
- 14ಅಬ್ನೇರನೇ, ನೀನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರ ಕೊಡುವದಿಲ್ಲವೋ ಅಂದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ--ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಕೂಗುವ ನೀನು ಯಾರು ಅಂದನು.
- 15ಆಗ ದಾವೀ ದನು ಅಬ್ನೇರನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ -- ನೀನು ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ? ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನಗೆ ಸಮಾನನಾದವನು ಯಾರು? ಆದರೆ ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಕಾಯದೆ ಹೋದದ್ದೇನು? ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನು ನಿನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದನು.
