ಅವರು ಚೂಫ್‌ ಎಂಬ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಸೌಲನು ತನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ಸೇವಕನಿಗೆ--ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ಕತ್ತೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಇರುವ ಚಿಂತೆಯನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ನಮಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಚಿಂತೆಪಡದ ಹಾಗೆ ನಾವು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗೋಣ ಬಾ ಅಂದನು.

King James Version (KJV): [And] when they were come to the land of Zuph, Saul said to his servant that [was] with him, Come, and let us return; lest my father leave [caring] for the asses, and take thought for us.
World English Bible (WEB): When they had come to the land of Zuph, Saul said to his servant who was with him, “Come! Let’s return, lest my father stop caring about the donkeys and be anxious for us.”

3ಸೌಲನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಕೀಷನ ಕತ್ತೆಗಳು ಕಾಣದೆ ಹೋದದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ಸೌಲ ನಿಗೆ--ನೀನೆದ್ದು ಕೆಲಸದವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಕತ್ತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಲು ಹೋಗಬೇಕು ಅಂದನು.
4ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅವನು ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮ್‌ ಬೆಟ್ಟವನ್ನೂ ಶಾಲೀಷಾ ದೇಶವನ್ನೂ ದಾಟಿಹೋದನು; ಆದರೆ ಅವು ಸಿಕ್ಕಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವನು ಶಾಲೀಮ್‌ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಹಾದುಹೋದನು; ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಅವುಗಳು ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಹೋದವು. ಅವನು ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನನ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ದಾಟಿ ದರೂ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಕಾಣದೆ ಹೋದನು.
5ಅವರು ಚೂಫ್‌ ಎಂಬ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಸೌಲನು ತನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ಸೇವಕನಿಗೆ--ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ಕತ್ತೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಇರುವ ಚಿಂತೆಯನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ನಮಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಚಿಂತೆಪಡದ ಹಾಗೆ ನಾವು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗೋಣ ಬಾ ಅಂದನು.
6ಅದಕ್ಕವನು--ಇಗೋ, ಈ ಪಟ್ಟಣ ದಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವರ ಮನುಷ್ಯನೊಬ್ಬನಿದ್ದಾನೆ; ಅವನು ಗೌರವ ವುಳ್ಳ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು. ಅವನು ಹೇಳುವದೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಿಶ್ಚಯ ವಾಗಿ ಆಗುವದು. ಈಗ ನಾವು ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗೋಣ; ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ, ನಾವು ಹೋಗಬೇಕೆಂದಿರುವ ನಮ್ಮ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಅವನು ತಿಳಿಸುವನು ಅಂದನು.
7ಆಗ ಸೌಲನು ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಿಗೆ--ಇಗೋ, ನಾವು ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದರೆ ಏನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುವದು? ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಹಸಿಬೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ಮುಗಿದುಹೋಯಿತು. ದೇವರ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಲು ತಕ್ಕ ಕಾಣಿಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲ; ನಮ್ಮ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಏನದೆ ಅಂದನು.
