ಸೌಲನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಕೀಷನ ಕತ್ತೆಗಳು ಕಾಣದೆ ಹೋದದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ಸೌಲ ನಿಗೆ--ನೀನೆದ್ದು ಕೆಲಸದವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಕತ್ತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಲು ಹೋಗಬೇಕು ಅಂದನು.

- 2ಇವನಿಗೆ ಒಳ್ಳೇ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥ ನಾದ ಸೌಲನೆಂಬ ಹೆಸರುಳ್ಳ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸುಂದರನಾದ ಮಗನಿದ್ದನು. ಇಸ್ರಾ ಯೇಲ್‌ ಮಕ್ಕಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನಿಗಿಂತ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯವುಳ್ಳವನು ಒಬ್ಬನೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಜನರ ಗುಂಪಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನ ಹೆಗಲೂ ತಲೆಯೂ ಕಾಣುವಷ್ಟು ಎತ್ತರವಾದವನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
- 3ಸೌಲನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಕೀಷನ ಕತ್ತೆಗಳು ಕಾಣದೆ ಹೋದದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ಸೌಲ ನಿಗೆ--ನೀನೆದ್ದು ಕೆಲಸದವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಕತ್ತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಲು ಹೋಗಬೇಕು ಅಂದನು.
- 4ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅವನು ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮ್‌ ಬೆಟ್ಟವನ್ನೂ ಶಾಲೀಷಾ ದೇಶವನ್ನೂ ದಾಟಿಹೋದನು; ಆದರೆ ಅವು ಸಿಕ್ಕಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವನು ಶಾಲೀಮ್‌ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಹಾದುಹೋದನು; ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಅವುಗಳು ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಹೋದವು. ಅವನು ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನನ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ದಾಟಿ ದರೂ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಕಾಣದೆ ಹೋದನು.
- 5ಅವರು ಚೂಫ್‌ ಎಂಬ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಸೌಲನು ತನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ಸೇವಕನಿಗೆ--ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ಕತ್ತೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಇರುವ ಚಿಂತೆಯನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ನಮಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಚಿಂತೆಪಡದ ಹಾಗೆ ನಾವು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗೋಣ ಬಾ ಅಂದನು.
