ಆದರೆ ಊರೀಯನು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗದೆ ಅರಮನೆಯ ಬಾಗಲ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಯಜಮಾನನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸೇವಕರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಲಗಿದ್ದನು.

- 9ಆದರೆ ಊರೀಯನು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗದೆ ಅರಮನೆಯ ಬಾಗಲ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಯಜಮಾನನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸೇವಕರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಲಗಿದ್ದನು.
- 10ಊರೀಯನು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಲಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸ ಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಾಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಊರೀಯನಿಗೆ -- ನೀನು ಪ್ರಯಾಣದಿಂದ ಬರಲಿಲ್ಲವೋ? ಯಾಕೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಲಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂದನು.
- 11ಊರೀಯನು ದಾವೀದ ನಿಗೆ--ಮಂಜೂಷವೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರೂ ಯೆಹೂದ ದವರೂ ಡೇರೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸಿರುವಾಗಲೂ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಯೋವಾಬನೂ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನ ಸೇವ ಕರೂ ಬೈಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ದಂಡಿಳಿದಿರುವಾಗ ನಾನು ಉಣ್ಣುವ ದಕ್ಕೂ ಕುಡಿಯುವದಕ್ಕೂ ನನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಲಗುವದಕ್ಕೂ ನನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಲೋ? ನಿನ್ನ ಜೀವದಾಣೆ, ನಿನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣದ ಜೀವದಾಣೆ, ನಾನು ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಮಾಡುವದಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂದನು.
