ಮಗುವು ಏಳನೇ ದಿವಸ ಸತ್ತುಹೋಯಿತು. ಆಗ ಮಗುವು ಸತ್ತು ಹೋಯಿತೆಂದು ದಾವೀದನ ಸೇವಕರು ಅವನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿ ಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಭಯಪಟ್ಟರು. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಇಗೋ, ಮಗುವು ಇನ್ನೂ ಬದುಕಿರುವಾಗ ನಾವು ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡುವಾಗ ಅವನು ನಮ್ಮ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳದೆಹೋದನು. ಈಗ ಮಗುವು ಸತ್ತುಹೋಯಿ ತೆಂದು ನಾವು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದರೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ಎಷ್ಟು ಸಂಕಟಪಡುವನೋ ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡರು.

- 17ಅವನನ್ನು ಎಬ್ಬಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನ ಮನೆಯ ಹಿರಿಯರು ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು; ಆದರೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಇತ್ತು. ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಭೋಜನ ಮಾಡದೆ ಹೋದನು.

- 19ಆದರೆ ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರು ಪಿಸುಗುಟ್ಟುವದನ್ನು ದಾವೀದನು ನೋಡಿ ಮಗುವು ಸತ್ತುಹೋಯಿತೆಂದು ಗ್ರಹಿಸಿ ಕೊಂಡನು. ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರಿಗೆ--ಮಗುವು ಸತ್ತುಹೋಯಿತೋ ಅಂದನು. ಅವರು --ಸತ್ತುಹೋಯಿತು ಅಂದರು.
- 20ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ನೆಲದಿಂದ ಎದ್ದು ಸ್ನಾನಮಾಡಿ ತೈಲವನ್ನು ಹಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡ ವನಾಗಿ ಬದಲಿ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಕರ್ತನ ಮಂದಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಆತನನ್ನು ಆರಾಧಿಸಿ ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಬಂದನು. ಅವನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ಅವರು ಅವನ ಮುಂದೆ ಇಟ್ಟ ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ತಿಂದನು.
