1. 2ಅದಕ್ಕವನು--ಜನರೇ, ಸಹೋದರರೇ, ತಂದೆಗಳೇ, ಕಿವಿಗೊಡಿರಿ; ನಮ್ಮ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಖಾರಾನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಮಾಡಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮುಂಚೆ ಅವನು ಮೆಸೊಪೊತಾಮ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾಗ ಮಹಿಮೆಯುಳ್ಳ ದೇವರು ಪ್ರತ್ಯಕ್ಷನಾಗಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ--
2. 3ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ದೇಶವನ್ನೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಬಂಧುಬಳಗವನ್ನೂ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ತೋರಿ ಸುವ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಬರಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
3. 4ಆಗ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಕಲ್ದೀಯರ ದೇಶದೊಳಗಿಂದ ಬಂದು ಖಾರಾನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಮಾಡಿದನು; ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ಸತ್ತಮೇಲೆ ಅವನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ನೀವು ಈಗ ವಾಸವಾಗಿರುವ ಈ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದನು.
4. 5ಅಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವರು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕಾಲಿಡುವಷ್ಟು ಸ್ವಾಸ್ತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕೊಡ ಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಆದಾಗ್ಯೂ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ಮಗನು ಇಲ್ಲದಿರು ವಾಗ ಆ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಅವನಿಗೂ ತರುವಾಯ ಅವನ ಸಂತತಿಗೂ ಸ್ವಾಸ್ಥ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆಂದು ವಾಗ್ದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದನು.
5. 6ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ದೇವರು ಈ ರೀತಿ ಹೇಳಿ ದನು--ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂತಾನದವರು ಅನ್ಯದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿ ಗಳಾಗಿರುವರು. ಆ ಅನ್ಯದೇಶದವರು ಅವರನ್ನು ದಾಸ ರನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ನಾನೂರು ವರುಷಗಳ ತನಕ ಕ್ರೂರವಾಗಿ ನಡಿಸುವರು.
