1. 2ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಜನಾಂಗವಾಗ ಮಾಡಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ದೊಡ್ಡ ದಾಗಿ ಮಾಡುವೆನು, ನೀನು ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದವಾಗಿರುವಿ.
2. 3ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸುವವರನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸು ವೆನು. ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಶಪಿಸುವವರನ್ನು ಶಪಿಸುವೆನು; ನಿನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನಾಂಗಗಳು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಲ್ಪಡು ವವು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
3. 4ಹೀಗೆ ಕರ್ತನು ತನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಅಬ್ರಾಮನು ಹೊರಟುಹೋದನು. ಲೋಟನೂ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಹೋದನು. ಅಬ್ರಾಮನು ಹಾರಾನಿ ನಿಂದ ಹೊರಟಾಗ ಎಪ್ಪತ್ತೈದು ವರುಷದವನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
4. 5ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅಬ್ರಾಮನು ತನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾದ ಸಾರಯಳನ್ನೂ ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನ ಮಗನಾದ ಲೋಟ ನನ್ನೂ ಅವರು ಕೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸಂಪತ್ತನ್ನೂ ಹಾರಾನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಸಂಪಾದಿಸಿಕೊಂಡವರನ್ನೂ ತಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಕಾನಾನ್‌ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟು ಅವರು ಕಾನಾನ್‌ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರು.
5. 6ಅಬ್ರಾಮನು ಆ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಶೆಕೆಮ್‌ ಎಂಬ ಸ್ಥಳದ ಮೋರೆಯೆಂಬ ಮೈದಾನದ ವರೆಗೆ ಹಾದು ಹೋದನು. ಆಗ ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರು ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದರು.
