ಕಂಚುಕಿಯ ಯಜಮಾ ನನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ--ನಿಮ್ಮ ಅನ್ನಪಾನಾದಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೇಮಿಸಿದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ನಾನು ಭಯಪಡುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಅವನು ಯಾಕೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಖಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಇರುವ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರಿಗಿಂತ ಕಳೆಗುಂದಿದವುಗಳನ್ನಾಗಿ ನೋಡಬೇಕು? ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನೀವು ಅರಸನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ನನ್ನ ತಲೆಗೆ ಅಪಾಯವನ್ನು ಬರಮಾಡುತ್ತೀರಿ ಅಂದನು.

- 8ಆದರೆ ದಾನಿಯೇಲನು ತಾನು ಅರಸನ ಭೋಜನದ ಪಾಲಿನಿಂದಲಾದರೂ ಅವನು ಕುಡಿಯುವ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸದಿಂದಾದರೂ ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಅಶುದ್ಧಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವದಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ತನ್ನ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಶ್ಚಯಿಸಿಕೊಂಡನು; ಆದುದರಿಂದ ತಾನು ಅಶುದ್ಧ ವಾಗದ ಹಾಗೆ ಕಂಚುಕಿಯರ ಯಜಮಾನನ್ನು ಬೇಡಿ ಕೊಂಡನು.
- 9ಆಗ ದೇವರು ದಾನಿಯೇಲನನ್ನು ಕಂಚುಕಿಯರ ಯಜಮಾನನ ದಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಕರುಣೆ ಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಸೇರಿಸಿದನು.
- 10ಕಂಚುಕಿಯ ಯಜಮಾ ನನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ--ನಿಮ್ಮ ಅನ್ನಪಾನಾದಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೇಮಿಸಿದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ನಾನು ಭಯಪಡುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಅವನು ಯಾಕೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಖಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಇರುವ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರಿಗಿಂತ ಕಳೆಗುಂದಿದವುಗಳನ್ನಾಗಿ ನೋಡಬೇಕು? ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನೀವು ಅರಸನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ನನ್ನ ತಲೆಗೆ ಅಪಾಯವನ್ನು ಬರಮಾಡುತ್ತೀರಿ ಅಂದನು.
- 11ಆ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಂಚುಕಿಯರ ಯಜಮಾನನು ದಾನಿಯೇಲ್‌, ಹನನ್ಯ, ವಿಾಶಾ ಯೇಲ, ಅಜರ್ಯ ಇವರನ್ನು ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಇಟ್ಟಿದ್ದ ಮೇಲ್ಜಾರನಿಗೆ ದಾನಿಯೇಲನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇ ನಂದರೆ--
- 12ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರನ್ನು ಹತ್ತು ದಿವಸಗಳ ವರೆಗೂ ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿ ನೋಡು, ಅವರು ನಮಗೆ ಆಹಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾಯಿಪಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕೊಡಲಿ.
