ಸಹೋದರರು ಕೂಡಿ ವಾಸಮಾಡುವಾಗ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನು ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಸತ್ತರೆ ಆ ಸತ್ತವನ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಮನೆ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಅನ್ಯನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾಗಬಾರದು; ಗಂಡನ ಸಹೋದರನು ಅವಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅವಳನ್ನು ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾಗಿ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಗಂಡನ ಸಹೋದರನಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕ ಹಾಗೆ ಅವಳಿಗೆ ನಡಿಸಬೇಕು.

- 6ಆಗ ಅವಳು ಹೆರುವ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲ ಮಗನು ಸತ್ತವನಾದ ಅವನ ಸಹೋದರನ ಹೆಸರಿಗೆ ಇವನ ಹೆಸರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಅಳಿಸಲ್ಪಡದ ಹಾಗೆ ನಿಲ್ಲಬೇಕು.
- 7ಆದರೆ ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ತನ್ನ ಅತ್ತಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಮನಸ್ಸಿಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೆ ಅತ್ತಿಗೆಯು ಬಾಗಲಿನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹಿರಿಯರ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಬಂದು--ನನ್ನ ಗಂಡನ ಸಹೋದರನು ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನಿಗೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಎಬ್ಬಿಸಲು ಮನಸ್ಸಿಲ್ಲದೆ ನನಗೆ ಗಂಡನ ಸಹೋದರನಾಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯವನ್ನು ನಡಿಸಲು ಮನಸ್ಸಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಇದ್ದಾನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಬೇಕು.
