ಅವು ಅರಸನ ಮುಂದೆ ಓದಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಾಗ ದ್ವಾರಪಾಲಕರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅರಸನ ಮನೆವಾರ್ತೆಯವರಲ್ಲಿ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಬಿಗೆತಾನನೂ ತೆರೆಷನೂ ಅರಸನಾದ ಅಹಷ್ವೇರೋಷನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೈಹಾಕಲು ಹುಡುಕುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದರೆಂಬುವ ವರ್ತಮಾನ ವನ್ನು ಮೊರ್ದೆಕೈಯು ತಿಳಿಸಿದನೆಂದು ಬರೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದು ಸಿಕ್ತಿತು.

1ಆ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ನಿದ್ರೆ ಬಾರದ್ದದರಿಂದ ವೃತಾಂತಗಳನ್ನು ಬರೆದಿರುವ ಪುಸ್ತಕವನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬರಲು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

3ಆಗ ಅರಸನು--ಇದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಮೊರ್ದೆಕೈಗೆ ಏನಾದರೂ ಘನವೂ ಮಹಿಮೆಯೂ ಮಾಡಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವೋ ಅಂದನು. ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು ಏನೂ ಇಲ್ಲವೆಂದೂ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಸೇವಿಸುವ ಅವನ ಸೇವಕರು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
4ಆಗ ಅರಸನು--ಅಂಗಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರು ಅಂದನು. ಆಗ ಹಾಮಾನನು ಮೊರ್ದೆಕೈಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡಿದ ಗಲ್ಲಿನ ಮರದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹಾಕುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಅರಸನ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡಲು ಅರಮನೆಯ ಹೊರಗಿನ ಅಂಗಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂದಿದ್ದನು.
