ಭೂಮಿ ಯು ನಿರಾಕಾರವಾಗಿಯೂ ಶೂನ್ಯವಾಗಿಯೂ ಇತ್ತು; ಅಗಾಧದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕತ್ತಲೆ ಇತ್ತು. ದೇವರ ಆತ್ಮನು ನೀರುಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಚಲಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.

Bhoomi yu niraakaaravaagiyoo shoonyavaagiyoo ittu; agaadhada mele kattale ittu. Devara aatmanu neerugala mele chalisuttiddanu.

King James Version (KJV): And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

1ಆದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವರು ಆಕಾಶವನ್ನೂ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನೂ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿದನು.
2ಭೂಮಿ ಯು ನಿರಾಕಾರವಾಗಿಯೂ ಶೂನ್ಯವಾಗಿಯೂ ಇತ್ತು; ಅಗಾಧದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕತ್ತಲೆ ಇತ್ತು. ದೇವರ ಆತ್ಮನು ನೀರುಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಚಲಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
3ಆಗ ದೇವರು--ಬೆಳಕಾಗಲಿ ಅನ್ನಲು ಬೆಳಕಾ ಯಿತು.
4ದೇವರು ಬೆಳಕನ್ನು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದೆಂದು ನೋಡಿದನು; ದೇವರು ಬೆಳಕನ್ನು ಕತ್ತಲೆಯಿಂದ ಬೇರೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು.
