ಅವನು ಇವುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಆತನಿಗಾಗಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ನಡುವೆ ತುಂಡುಮಾಡಿ ಒಂದು ತುಂಡನ್ನು ಇನ್ನೊಂದರ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಇಟ್ಟನು; ಆದರೆ ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳನ್ನು ತುಂಡುಮಾಡಲಿಲ್ಲ.
Avanu ivugalannellaa aatanigaagi tegedukondu naduve tundumaadi ondu tundannu innondara eduraagi ittanu; aadare pakshigalannu tundumaadalilla.

- 9ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಆತನು ಅಬ್ರಾಮನಿಗೆ--ಮೂರು ಮೂರು ವರುಷದ ಕಡಸು ಆಡು ಟಗರುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಒಂದು ಬೆಳವಕ್ಕಿಯನ್ನೂ ಒಂದು ಪಾರಿವಾಳದ ಮರಿಯನ್ನೂ ನನಗಾಗಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೋ ಅಂದನು.
- 10ಅವನು ಇವುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಆತನಿಗಾಗಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ನಡುವೆ ತುಂಡುಮಾಡಿ ಒಂದು ತುಂಡನ್ನು ಇನ್ನೊಂದರ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಇಟ್ಟನು; ಆದರೆ ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳನ್ನು ತುಂಡುಮಾಡಲಿಲ್ಲ.
- 11ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳು ಆ ಶವಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಇಳಿದು ಬಂದಾಗ ಅಬ್ರಾಮನು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಓಡಿಸಿದನು.
- 12ಸೂರ್ಯನು ಅಸ್ತಮಿಸಲಾಗಿ ಅಬ್ರಾಮನಿಗೆ ಗಾಢನಿದ್ರೆ ಹತ್ತಿತು. ಆಗ ಇಗೋ, ಭಯದ ಘೋರಾಂಧಕಾರವು ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕವಿಯಿತು.
